Cape Town in South Africa is an attractive location with many local and international executives making a permanent move to this lovely part of Africa.

The lifestyle, good standard of living and natural beauty of the area are among the main reasons people choose to move to the Cape, found at the tip of the African continent.

Cape Town is often described as one of the most beautiful cities in the world and indeed it is. This is one of the few regions in the world where a majestic mountain towers over a coastline that seems to go on forever, where two oceans converge and the city is split down the middle by a national park.

The various wine routes offer a wide variety of activities, from horseback trails to mountain biking and hiking. The Cape has possibly the best land-based whale watching in the world. Unspoilt beaches and indigenous fauna and flora are among the natural attractions, while restaurants, art galleries and night life add to a multi-cultural buzz of the city.

Moving Back to South Africa

Many South Africans have moved away from the continent of Africa in years past, in search of a better life to countries as diverse as Australia, England, America, Canada and New Zealand. After finding out that "the grass is not greener on the other side”, many are deciding to move back. Homesickness and family ties also pull these ex-South African travelers and back to this part of the world.

According to Daniel Palm, August 17th, 2009 www.homecomingrevolution, “So many people are coming home and loads more are wanting to come home. We need to realize we are lucky enough to be living in one of the best countries in the world”.

Those moving to South Africa are not only returning South Africans. Immigrants to South Africa include families from the UK and other European Countries, USA and increasingly China, Eastern Europe and other African countries.

Moving to South Africa – What Property is Available?

Property close to the sea or with a sea view command the most expensive house prices in South Africa. The types of homes vary from flats, penthouses, studios, and houses in Cape Town and surrounds.

Cape Town, being one of the capitals of South Africa, is a fairly big city with many suburbs. Like most suburbs in a big city each area has its character and advantages. These may differ greatly from suburb to suburb. The areas close to the University of Cape Town usually cater for students but apartments, boarding homes and houses for rent are readily available.

Shipping and International Moving Costs

Comparing international shipping costs online is a great way to get a general idea of how much shipping costs would come to before asking for a detailed quote.

Quotes usually include insurance but depend on whether only part of a container or a full container will be required, if there are fragile items such as artwork and whether there are cars, motorbikes and boats that need to be shipped.

Time at sea is approximately 16-19 days from the UK to Cape Town, this will be longer for shipping from Australia or USA. Time needs to be factored in for customs clearance and delivery upon arrival at port.
